Luck or Skill?

It seems when great things happen to people, we are the first to say, "Man, they are SO lucky!" Okay, so this is me anyway. But is it just really luck, or is it skill?

SKILL: Writing till 3am without coffee and being able to still speak coherently.
LUCK: Writing till 3am and nabbing the very last piece of chocolate cake.

SKILL: Creating a diversion and outsmarting the zombies.
LUCK: Finding out that zombies are repelled by bacon breath.

SKILL: Your fabulous writing turns into a best seller.
LUCK: Getting the book deal on your first try. Ever. And your book becomes a best seller on it's release day.

SKILL: JK Rowling
LUCK: JK Rowling

Do you think skill & luck are like marshmellows & peanut butter-can't have one without the other?

Too funny! It's true though there is a difference between skill and luck. Great post!

Bahaha JK Rowling one still has me laughing!!!

Okay so I agree with you and Pam they are different. However I believe they do in fact go hand in hand.

I always say there is no luck without hard work. This even pertains to the lottery... if you play the lotter you had to get the dollar from somewhere... most like from your paycheck. Money still earned.

Here's to hoping my hardwork, skill, and luck all survive query land!

I'm with Jen. I think you need both. You can be the most talented person in the word, but without opportunity, it means nothing.

I think skill is huge and incredibly important, but there are times when luck comes in. Like with me, I happened to enter my historical MS set in a theater (instead of a different one) at the very time the secret agent was looking for a historical MS set in a theater. Yes? :D <3 great post~

I'd envy JK Rowling more if I didn't love her books so much. I'm too busy idolizing her. Shows you what an epic combination the right and luck and skill can be.

Thanks for the laugh, Rose.

Daaaamn!! Those were some close calls. It will all be hard work for me, because "if it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have no luck at all."

Freaky video. How many of those people should have been dead?

I'm an extraordinarily lucky person - the jury's still out on the skill verdict though. ;)
