89 days, 6 hours and 6 minutes until my book, GOSSIP FROM THE GIRLS' ROOM, is released. Not that i'm counting or anything.
I had an author event invite from my local bookstore, wanting to set the day/time for after my book release. This got me thinking...do I start setting up events now? Am I supposed to have all this ready to go so when the book does come out everything is in place? It's one of those things that you think about, but you don't really think about. Not until you realize your book isn't just a year and half away from being published, but a matter of months.
So I asked my agent and she said yes, set these up now. I've also been in contact with my editor and she gave me the news that my publicist was just announced. My head is started to spin with the reality of everything. My book will be in stores. I'll be doing author events and signings. And...my book will be in stores!
I'm learning so much as I go through this process. Like, did you know that the buyers from Borders and B&N can reject your book just because they don't like the cover or the book concept? It can be hard getting into these big stores, esepecially if you're a new author. And with a new series. I won't know until it gets closer if my book makes it in, but I do know they've already met and discussed my book and so far the feedback has been positive *fingers crossed*

Yay!!!!!
Yay to you, Rose! :)
Counting down the days!!! I'm so excited that Candyland is getting a copy (if she stops by I want her to know that I haven't forgotten about her! She's still got that winning copy!)
I just recently learned that the authors are to set up the book events (correct me if I'm wrong) I am so naive, I was under the impression that they foot the bill and allowed you to travel on a budget. Do you know all the facts there!? I'd love for you to visit Houston, I even know the Bookshop I'd want you to go to!
Tera Lynn Childs book Oh.My.Gods was rejected from B&N because she had a statue of a God that was naked, his junk was covered with running shoes but they still found it offensive. It has sense been changed and can now be found in B&N but she struggled at first!
i'm learning so much from you, it's just incredible! i'd be so lost navigating the big, bad literary book world without a friend like you.
i'm so glad you're getting things set up. and i'm sure you won't have a thing to worry about. the bookstores and kids will just gobble this gossipy little book right up!
Getting closer now! I'm excited for you. It must all feel so much more real now.
Woot. So exciting.
Your book will be in stores! So exciting. Huge congratulations!
So exciting.
Oooh this is so exciting!
Hope you get into the big stores :-)
So exciting! Oh my goodness, though--it seems as though the nature of the dilemmas keeps on changing as you go. Lie to me, tell me if I query well and get an agent my problems will all be over. Right? Riiiiiight?
